Monday 5/11 Live Blog

A reminder as we get started to be kind to those moms in your office or workplace today. Mother's Day was yesterday, and if the average mom is like Jon's mom...she's no doubt nursing a massive hangover this morning. So be nice. Be quiet. Offer to hold her hair while she pukes up those pop tarts.

NY Times bestselling author Wendy Leigh's latest book takes a look at the life of Patrick Swayze. Interviews with the actor's co-stars, family, and friends fill Patrick Swayze: One Last Dance, as he faces terminal cancer. The book hits stores tomorrow.

Another Medium Monday brought psychic medium Susan Anderson to the show. Susan took your calls, as she does the second Monday of every month.

Dr. Cassandra Vieten's new book, Mindful Motherhood showed us how to stay sane during pregnancy and your child's first year. A perfect gift for moms-to-be on your M Day gift list.

Congratulations to our Charm Your Mom GRAND PRIZE winner (drumroll)...Terri Beck (applause)!! Terri's lovely daughter got her registered at k107.com for the prize package from Fox Diamond Center, Primary Paint, and Theo's! Thanks to all of our sponsors and to everyone who entered.

Thursday 5/7 Live Blog

Stunning news this morning as the U.S. Postal Service announced losses of $1.9 billion in the second quarter. They say the USPS may not make it through the end of the year! Looks like the time has come for Mr. McFeeley to ask King Friday for a bailout.

What's Your Self-Worth? Good question and the new good book from Dr. Cheryl Saban. Makes a great gift and a nice way to validate mom this Mother's Day.

Weekend Buzz got us around the South Valley for mom-related events, and Brian Carter talked about ways to pamper the old gal with seafood.

Our K107.1 Life Coach Mary T. Browne talked positive thoughts and motherhood. The best ways to stay sane for both parents and children are all a matter of your mindset.

Why do diets fail? Dr. Susan Roberts says it's because most diet plans force you to betray your natural instincts about food and eating. The Instinct Diet relies on your intuition to lose weight and keep it off. Find the book in stores and more info online at Dr. Roberts website.

Leading off our blog this morning with a photo taken just moments ago right here in the studio...gracias, Jose.

Monday 5/4 Live Blog

Cue the violins. Looks like Jon will be eating ramen noodles for the next few weeks following another upset in Saturday's Kentucky Derby. Mine That Bird?!? A 50-1 shot takes the win and Jon's $10 wager with it. What a shame.

K107.1 Fitness Pro Lynn Roethke stopped by for another weigh-in. The numbers weren't quite as good this time around, but what do you expect after a weekend full of grilling and mint juleps? Find Lynn online or stop in at Club Olympia to get your sweat on.

As Mother's Day approaches, we chatted with a pair of guests concerning the influence of the old gal in our lives. Dr. Wednesday Martin's book Stepmonster looks at why stepmothers think, feel, and act the way they do...for the good or the bad.

Our second mommy-related guest was author Gregory Lang. Greg has a pair of books that compliment each other while letting mom know she's da bomb. Why a Daughter Needs a Mom and Why a Son Needs a Mom make great gifts and are now in stores.

May Day 5/1 Live Blog

Hey, hey, hey...it's May Day! About 20 years ago a young man named Jonny asked his ol' granny what May Day was. She said it was a day to work on your manners and be polite to everyone you saw. "MAY I have another cookie?" or "Grandfather, MAY I use the bathroom before you set off another bomb?" or "I'd like to help you paint the ceiling, if I MAY." See? It's all about a day to say "may." True story.

Sabish Middle School in the FDL is Go'n Green this Tuesday. Check out various green gifts in time for Mother's Day, or maybe get an early jump on Earth Day 2010. The fun goes from 3-4:40 in the Sabish parking lot.

Sean Conway, the host of Cultivating Life (now airing on WGN America - check local listings) gave us tips on making our backyards into secondary living spaces. His companion book is in stores and would make a great gift for your mama.

Time is of the essence to Charm Your Mom for Mother's Day. Details on our BIG prize package and your chance to get mom qualified are at k107.com.

And finally, it just wouldn't be a Friday without a visit from Tony Meade. Tony bared his claws and chatted up two movies this week...X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Lots of blood in both offerings.
