Friday 5/28 Live Blog

And finally, Memorial Day weekend has arrived. A time to reflect on the sacrifice made by veterans and their families. A time to spend with loved ones in America's great outdoors. A time to sink your teeth into a bottle of Wild Turkey while hanging out in your neighbor's kiddie pool (while your neighbor is out of town, of course). Enjoy!

The excitement is palpable as our very own Miss Wisconsin, Courtney Lopez, joins us later this week as she prepares to represent the dairy state this weekend in Las Vegas. Mother's Day Weekend Bash 2010 is finally here and we made our BIG bling winner from C.W. Smith Jewelers! Congrats to Ella Mae Schneider, the lovely 76-year-old mother of 9 kids, 21 grandkids, and 12 great-grandkids. Her son Rick nominated her in (almost) 25 words or less and now Ella Mae gets the Peg Bundy treatment thanks to our friends at C.W. Smith!

Former food and wine editor at Town & Country magazine, James Villas joined us with his latest cookbook, PIG: King of the Southern Table. Over 300 recipes for pork in all it's delectable glory...from bacon to ham to chops. Makes a great gift for mom, especially if your mom is Homer Simpson.

The great Hall of Fame announcer Ernie Harwell passed away last night after a yearlong battle with cancer. Doing play-by-play for the Detroit Tigers over a 55 year career, Ernie served as a major influence in the future radio career of a young Jon Carson. His voice will be missed but never forgotten. Ernie Harwell, long gone at the age of 92.

Monday 5/3 Live Blog

It's our first blog post for the month of May, and such a special occasion calls for a very special photo to lead things off. We debated whether to use the only image ever captured of Bigfoot, the ghostly figure of Abraham Lincoln that haunts our studio, photographic evidence that Elvis is still alive, or a fat guy cannonballing into a pool. Was there really any other choice?
