It's rare that we use this blog to recognize two celebrity birthdays in the same week, but following our shout out to Sir Elton on Wednesday, we find it only fitting to salute the great and glamorous Jackie Rogers Jr., blowing out 60 candles this fine morning. Congrats, Jacko! Any chance of bringing back Jackie Rogers Jr.'s $100,000 Jackpot Wad one of these days?
The original lead singer of The Runaways, Cherie Currie, joined us with a look at her book that inspired the movie The Runaways (starring Dakota Fanning as Cherie). Neon Angel: Memoir of a Runaway tells the tale of a 15-year-old Cherie's introduction to the world of sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. An updated version of the book is now in stores and the movie is now in theaters.
Medicine disregarded it. Antibiotics can't control it. Superbug: The Fatal Menace of MRSA looks at this drug-resistant staph, called "the most frightening epidemic since AIDS." Author of Superbug, Maryn McKenna told us what MRSA is, where it came from, and how to (hopefully) fight it.
Bill Wiese spent 23 minutes in hell a few years ago. The actual hell. Not the lovely town of Hell, Michigan. Hell. The devil's ranch. Bill chronicled his "adventures" in the book, 23 Minutes in Hell. He chatted with us about the climate, the residents, and the recreational activities on Satan's plantation.
Our main man Tony was unable to join us this morning to talk movies, but he sent along all the relevant info. John Cusack turns on the jets in a Hot Tub Time Machine, and the voices of Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, and America Ferrera teach you How to Train Your Dragon. Click on k107.com for a full list of movies and showtimes.
